Gossip Girl meets Old Hollywood

Gossip Girl meets old Hollywood is probably the most accurate description of my personal style I’ve ever heard. Sadly I wasn’t the one who came up with it.
Instead, the origin traces back to one of the (many) times I arrived late to my class of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, praying and hoping the teacher wouldn’t notice me. Alas he did, though not knowing my name he used this term to call me out on my tardiness, which perfectly described my outfit that day.

As an absolute addicted to TV series and movies, it’s no secret that most of my style’s influences com from there. It has always been about the clothes for me, I love how we can see the character’s personality shine through their outfits. Inevitably, I love the shows and movies where fashion plays a key factor in the story. Iconic characters like Miranda Priestly, Carrie Bradshaw, Serena van der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf or even more recent characters Like Aria, Spencer, Hanna, Emily, and Alison are big inspirations for my personal style.

Growing up I thought I’d end up being a movie director, a producer or at least work in that industry, this made me look up to fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. So, of course, I’ve been fond of this year’s trend of the chess patterns and berets.

Since I live in  Lisbon winter never gets to freezing temperatures here and I can get away with not wearing that much layers. On a colder day I just throw on a warmer coat and I’m ready to go.

That being said, there is nothing more classic and chic for me than an oversized chess pattern blazer, it is timeless and never goes out of style. It is the piece of clothing that you can find anywhere, maybe even in your boyfriend or brother’s wardrobe. It always makes me feel Like A Boss™ and you can hardly go wrong with it. I’ve already had mine for a while but I found a few which resemble it.

Usually, I will style an oversized blazer with a tighter top and bottom just like this black body from Tezenis (https://goo.gl/q5NbFD), plus a mini skirt or, if you prefer, skinny jeans. Same with the blazer, I already own this skirt for a while, but leather skirts remain a huge fashion statement so I searched for a couple which resemble mine.

As previously mentioned, berets have been one of my favorite trends this year. I love how chic and “Parisian” they make any outfit feel.  As well as being the perfect accessory to throw on when you’re having a bad hair day.  The exact one I’m wearing is from Pull and Bear (https://goo.gl/e68z5p) but you can pretty much find them in any store during this season in any color and shape.  To finish this look I’m wearing my favorite rose gold watch from Parfois.
